The influence of low pressure will bring rain and fresh northerly winds to Austria towards the weekend. It will be particularly wet in the southeast, with snowfall limits between 1,200 and 1,600 meters. Geosphere Austria forecasted this on Thursday. The start of the new week will also be increasingly rainy.
Low pressure from the southeast will continue to dominate the weather on Friday. During the day, except in the west, dense clouds will gather over Austria, and light rain will spread as far as Lungau and the Salzkammergut. As a result, the north wind will freshen noticeably along the eastern edge of the Alps. Early temperatures will fluctuate between minus six and plus six degrees, with daytime highs between ten and 18 degrees.
With a low center over the Adriatic Sea on Saturday, it will remain overcast and rainy all day in the Eastern Alps. The snow line will drop from the north to around 1,600 meters. By the evening, the focus of the precipitation will shift from the southeast to the northern side of the Alps. The wind will blow briskly from west to north along the main Alpine ridge and on the eastern edge of the Alps. Early temperatures will range between four and eight degrees, with daytime highs of six to 13 degrees.
Sunday will start with dense clouds that will bring rain, especially on the northern side of the Alps between Vorarlberg and the Mostviertal, with a snow line between 1,200 and 1,500 meters above sea level. As the day progresses, the precipitation will slowly decrease, and the cloud cover will become increasingly lighter. By the evening, however, the next clouds will reach Austria from the northwest. The wind will blow from the west to the northwest and be moderate to brisk at times north of the main Alpine ridge and in the foehn valleys in the south. After three to eleven degrees in the morning, temperatures will rise to ten to 17 degrees during the day, with the warmest temperatures in the country’s east.
Cold air from the north will affect us at the start of the week. This will bring changeable weather with some denser clouds. There will be heavy rain in places on the northern side of the Alps. The snow line lies between 1,600 and 1,000 meters above sea level from west to east. However, it will be dry and sunny most of the time in the south of the country. The wind blows moderately to briskly from the northwest, especially north of the main Alpine ridge, but also in the foehn valleys on the southern side of the Alps. Early temperatures will range between two and eight degrees, with daytime highs between seven and 14 degrees.
On Tuesday, Austria will be caught in a strong northerly current. This will cause many clouds to accumulate on the northern side of the Alps. Here, it will rain repeatedly and snow in some places. The snow line will rise from east to west from 500 to 1,000 meters above sea level over the course of the day. The south and the far west will remain generally favorable. Brisk winds from the north will blow on the southern side of the Alps. Further north, however, the wind will be much weaker. Early temperatures: minus one to plus five degrees; daytime highs: eight to 14 degrees.
